ISLAMABAD-

The United States shut down its consulate in Peshawar citing ‘security concerns’ while extending the temporary closure of its Lahore consulate, private media reported Wednesday.

The U.S. State Department issued a travel advisory for its citizens in Pakistan, urging them to defer all non-essential trip to the country as the militant groups targeting the national and foreign facilities, and Pakistani citzens also pose serious threat to the US citizens.

The State Department also warned its citizens to limit their visits to public places such as markets, restaurants, and venues of protests.

Six months ago, the US evacuated all non-essential staff from its Lahore consulate owing to ‘renovation’ and terror threats.
