Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui said on Wednesday that strict action would be taken against the people who challenged law and their abettors for permanent and durable peace in the city.
“Crackdown against encroachment would be carried out and no favour or pressure would be accepted in this regard,” he said while addressing a meeting to review progress of actions taken against occupiers of government land. All the deputy commissioners, director local government Robina Asif, SSPs of all the districts, SP traffic and officers of all the relevant organisations were also present on the occasion.
Deputy commissioners told the meeting that over 950 acre land had been evacuated in different districts during crackdown against land mafia. The deputy commissioner Korangi said that the land of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University had also been retrieved from illegal occupants. Siddiqui ordered arrest of concerned engineer for not building surrounding wall on the land of the university. The deputy commissioner West said encroachments had been removed from 4-K area of North Karachi, while resettlement of encroachments was being dealt with iron hands.
Representative of ABAD requested for evacuation of Scheme 33, Gulistan-e-Johar and other construction projects from land mafia.
