Life term imprisonment awarded to six accused in kidnapping case


An anti-terrorism court (ATC) Tuesday awarded life term imprisonment to six accused involved in kidnapping of a student of grade 3.

The court also ordered confiscation of the property of all accused Rizwan, Sanwal, Qadeer, Shoaib, Adeel Zahid and Ahsan Ali.

The ATC-III judge announced the verdict after hearing arguments of both parties and examining evidence on record.

Earlier, arguing before the court, the counsel of the accused submitted that allegations levelled against the accused were false and they were involved in the matter by police to show performance. He pleaded the court to acquit the accused being innocent.

However, the prosecutor opposed the request and pleaded the court to convict the accused. He submitted that the accused kidnapped Umair in March 2013 and demanded Rs 2 million ransom for his release. He said that the accused received Rs 1.2 million which were recovered by the police from them.
