Implementation of National Action Plan is yielding positive results: Shahbaz

The protection of life and property of the people is the responsibility of the state and all possible steps are being taken to improve law and order in the province, said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif while addressing a high level meeting on Tuesday which reviewed overall law and order situation and security arrangements in the province.

A detailed briefing was given in the meeting which was attended by Minister for Home Colonel (r) Shuja Khanzada, assembly member Rana Sanaullah, chief secretary, inspector general of police, secretary home and officers concerned.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that existing extraordinary situation demands extraordinary measures, therefore, necessary security arrangements have been made in public and private educational institutions throughout the province. He said that the National Action Plan (NAP) is a unanimous strategy to rid the country of terrorism and implementation of this plan is yielding positive results. He said that immediate and effective decisions have been taken in the light of NAP and all departments concerned are working with close coordination for this purpose.

He said that necessary amendments have also been made in some laws for making sentences more stringent. He directed that the ban on misuse of loudspeakers, publication and distribution of provocative literature and wall-chalking be implemented strictly and indiscriminate action be taken over any violation. He said that the whole nation is united in the war against terrorism and this menace will be eliminated with the force of unity.
