The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has started paying compensation to the land owners of Mouza Noon, Islamabad. In this connection, the Land and Estate Wing of the Authority initially disbursed Rs. 100 million as compensation to those belonging to sectors H-16 and I-17. These payments are being made on the directions of Islamabad High Court (IHC). People who owned a land up to two canals of land are being compensated. The award of Mouza Noon and Badhana was announced in 2007.
Chairman CDA Maroof Afzal had directed the Land and Estate Wing to ensure the payments to people who owned up to two canals of land in the wake of directives issued by IHC. Acting upon Afzal’s directions the Land and Estate Wing has made payments to 58 people and taken possession of 116 canals of land in Mouza Noon.
Meanwhile, in order to ensure transparency in payment procedures, on the directions of the CDA chair, compensations are being made at the camp office established on the site, instead of the CDA offices. The concerned staffs have been directed to ensure their presence in the camp office. Afzal has directed that special attention be paid not only to resolve the compensation issue, but to all the genuine problems being faced by the land owners. He said that the CDA would work for the development of Islamabad, with cooperation and mutual consultation with those affected in this issue.
