IT (information technology) is a term that encompasses all forms of technology used to create, store, exchange, and use information in its various forms (business data, voice conversations, still images, motion pictures, multimedia presentations, and other forms, including those not yet conceived).
Technology has become a part of our life. From cellphones to computers, smart boards, GPS systems and pretty much everything else is technology based. IT helps us daily by providing us with information and entertainment that is not normally possible from books alone. The crown jewel of technology, the internet, is the fastest and greatest source of information and entertainment.
IT benefits us in education as well. Teachers and students are more connected in and out of the classroom. It provides teacher an endless choice of multimedia, software, applications and devices with which to create more exciting, interactive lessons. Advancements in networking within information technology have connected more institutions and their staff and students, and therefore made a greater amount of information and resources available.
IT is also useful in business. It creates electronic storage system to protect a company’s valuable records. Employees have more time to work on other things while computers run their reports, queries, track projects and monitor finances. These systems can give you remote access to your company’s network so that you can work from home or on the road.
In other words, there might hardly be a place where IT is not used.
