The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has started searching original file of SGS and Cotecna references against former president Asif Ali Zardari after the record “disappeared”, a news channel reported on Wednesday.
According to the channel’s sources, the original documentation recording corruption references against the former president disappeared as both original documents are neither in the accountability court nor with NAB.
Former NAB joint secretary Hassan Waseem, while refusing to give a statement, said that NAB has the original record and he won’t record a statement until the original record is retrieved.
However, investigation officer Gulshan Khan said that he has never seen the original record of the case and that NAB only has photocopies.
The hearing of plea on Zardari’s acquittal of the charges is scheduled for Thursday. Accountability Court’s Judge Muhammad Bashir will hear the plea.
