Waqar Younus’s brother has bogus degrees yet PIA won’t send him packing

The educational certificates of Faisal Younus, brother of Pakistan cricket team’s head coach Waqar Younus, have been found to be bogus yet the man continues to work as a pilot in the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).

The Public Accounts Committee has been informed that Faisal Younus was recruited in PIA in 2003, but after three years it was discovered that his educational documents were fake. However, the investigation officer did not disqualify him from the job but placed a decrement of three years in the pilot’s seniority.

According to the aviation authorities, Faisal Younus’s degrees are fake but his credentials as a pilot are genuine. The authorities also added that Faisal Younus was also the first to pilot a 777 plane.

Member National Assembly Mehmood Khan Achakzai said that Faisal Younus must be debarred from service.

The secretary Civil Aviation Authority argued that considerable time and resources had been spent on Faisal Younus’s training and he cannot be dismissed outright. The PAC has summoned all records regarding Faisal Younus.
