Former Punjab chief minister and leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Monday challenged incumbent Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to a live debate on the performances of the PML-Q and PML-N governments in the province.

Elahi threw in the gauntlet to Sharif during an interview with Pakistan Today Editor Arif Nizami on his talk show DNA on Channel 24.

During the interview, Elahi accused Sharif of rolling back all major development projects initiated by the PML-Q government just to “take revenge from the Chaudhrys”.

“All major projects which were initiated for the welfare of the people of Punjab by our government were put on the backburner or abandoned by Shahbaz Sharif all together just because these were started by us,” said Elahi.

He said that the PML-Q government had built a state-of-the-art surgical tower at Lahore’s Mayo Hospital which also had a helipad to facilitate shifting of serious patients but instead of operationalising the project, Shahbaz Sharif has abandoned it all together, wasting millions of rupees. “Is this good governance that 14 people were killed in Model Town last year but none of those responsible have been brought to book till now?”

“Several international reports have also stated that the PML-Q’s term in office was much better that Shahbaz Sharif’s governance and I’m willing to face the chief minister in a live TV show to contest my claims,” he concluded.

  1. There is no "Comeback" chance for you and other Chaudhry Sahib. Imran Khan and Mulla Qaadri has left you alone. Military is rather keen to better Pakistan with political elite rather than coming to power by force. Why should Mian brotheran accept your challenge?.
