At least two officials of Khasadar Force sustained injuries in twin blasts near Khasadar checkpost located at Jamrud by-pass on Sunday.

According to sources, two bombs were planted at the Jamrud by-pass which injured khasadar Shoaib and Abrar.

The wounded officers were immediately admitted to the Jamrud Civil Hospital for medical assistance.

According to Jamrud administration, both blasts were cracker blasts whereas security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.

KOHAT BOMB DEFUSED:

In the meanwhile, the police foiled a major terror bid as it recovered and defused a bomb weighing 10 kilogram in Kohat during the night falling between Saturday and Sunday.

DPO Kohat, Muhammad Sohaid Ashraf said that the police on a tip-off conducted operation at Kohat-Hangu Road.

During operation police recovered a bomb packed in cement block after which bomb disposal squad (BDS) was called in.

The BDS personnel defused the bomb weighing about 10 kilogram and containing ball barrings, remote receiver, DC electric batteries and prima card connected with electric detonator.

It was the first kind of the bomb recovered so far, packed in cement block. It could have resulted massive losses but timely action of police foiled the bid.

IED BLAST IN BUNER:

Separately in Buner, the Armoured Personal Carrier (APC) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police came under improvised explosive device (IED) attack in Totalia area of district Buner when explosive material planted by some unidentified miscreants on a road side went off.

District Police Officer (DPO) Buner Khalid Hamdani said the APC of KP Police was on routine patrolling when it reached near Tothalia area district Buner, the IED went off suddenly but no one was hurt.

PEACE COMMITTEE MEMBER KILLED:

Separately, a peace committee member was killed and another injured in clash with militants on Sunday.

Levies sources said that the clash between volunteers of peace committee and militants took place in Nari Baba area of Tirah Valley in Khyber Agency after miscreants attacked them.

The militants fled the scene after the peace committee members along with Levies men retaliated.
