QUETTA:
Private-school owners in Balochistan appealed to the government on Sunday to deploy security personnel around their buildings.
Addressing a press conference, All Balochistan Private Schools Federation chairman Jaffar Khan Kakar said that private schools had limited resources and it was not possible for them to provide security to their students.
He said the provincial government and local administrations had directed the private schools to make extra security arrangements and deploy private security guards under the National Action Plan (NAP) against terrorism, otherwise they would not be allowed to run their institutions.
Mr Kakar said it was the responsibility of the government and security agencies to provide security to all schools.
Under National Action Plan, the provincial government has directed private educational institutions to raise boundary walls of their buildings, erect fences on walls and arrange private security guards.
The education department has informed the foundation that schools not complying with official instructions will not be allowed to function.
