No ‘resting in peace’ in federal capital

Dying just got a little more expensive in capital territory. The Capital Develop Authority (CDA) has increased the charges for digging graves and burials.

The charges for burying a dead child’s body and digging a grave for the purpose has been raised by three times the original amount. The cost for an adult has gone up five times.

The decision regarding the increase in the charges in the H-11 graveyard was taken at a meeting held at the CDA Head Office on Friday.

The summary of the decision has been sent to the Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) for approval.

After the approval of the summary charge, the burial process for a child will cost Rs. 500 instead of Rs. 100. The price for an adult has been increased from Rs. 300 to Rs. 1000.

Moreover, the charges of transporting a dead body have been raised to Rs. 20/km from Rs. 4/km.

It is pertinent to mention here that the CDA has three special busses for transporting dead bodies to graveyards in the Capital.
