IED targets Quetta-bound train

Two Akbar Express passenger train bogies were derailed on Saturday after an improvised explosive device (IED) hit the train in Dera Allahyar.

According to Dera Allahyar police, the passenger train was on its way to Quetta when it was attacked near Dera Allahyar.

“Two bogies were derailed as a result of the explosion. However, no one was injured in the attack as the bogies were carrying luggage,” said a police official, adding that the track was not completely damaged in the explosion. Rescue workers and police officials reached the site and the rescue work concluded after two hours.

According to Pakistan Railways official in Quetta, the rail services were not affected due to the incident. “The Bolan Mail left from Quetta station after a brief delay while Rawalpindi bound Jaffer Express left on time,” he said.

Nobody has claimed responsibility for the attack as yet.
