Cry of water shortage echoes in Assembly

The members belonging to opposition complained in the Sindh Assembly Friday that their constituencies were facing acute water shortage.

Amir Haider Shah Sheerazi of the PML-N said his area Dhabeji had been braving stoppage of water supply and electricity for last 10 days. He said in districts of Thatta and Sujawal corruption was rampant in local government departments and the problems of people were not being solved.

Minister for Local Government Sharjeel Inam Memon said not only Dhabeji but many other areas of Sindh were facing water shortage. He said he would resolve the issue on priority. He said his department was launching a cleanliness drive in the province and he would personally sweep streets.

Sorath Thebo of the PML-N said Dadu area had also been braving water shortage but the local government department was not taking steps to solve this problem. She advised Minister for Local Government Sharjeel Inam Memon that before sweeping streets he should also sweep corruption from his department.
