Three killed in violence; 4 die in encounter

As many as three persons were killed and another injured in different incidents of violence on Thursday.

A man, Habibul, 40, son of Akbar Gul, was stabbed to death by unidentified accused near Mastana roundabout in Itihad Town area. The body was brought to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for an autopsy.

In another incident, a police constable shot and injured a man. According to Station House Officer (SHO) Chakiwara, Mohammad Iqbal, 41, son of Roshan Khan (Hazarewal), scuffled with policeman Shabbir in his neighbourhood. Resultantly, Shabbir shot and injured him and escaped. He fired a bullet on his hand. The injured was shifted to CHK for treatment.

Yet in another incident, a youth, Danish, 24, son of Kaleemullah, was gunned down by unknown armed men near Iqbal Market in Orangi No 11½. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. The motive behind the killing could not be ascertained yet.

Separately, a youth, Talha, 22, was gunned down by unknown armed men near Kalakot, Raxcer Lane in Lyari. The body was shifted to CHK for an autopsy. The motive behind the killing could not be ascertained yet.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir Rao Anwar claimed on Thursday that a police party had killed four banned outfit members in an alleged encounter at Sohrab Goth area and recovered weapons from their possession.

According to details, the SSP raided the area of AL-Asif Square in Sohrab Goth along with 400 police personnel on secret information about the presence of terrorists, where an encounter occurred in which four alleged terrorists belonging to a banned outfit were killed.

Police recovered weapons, some suicide jackets, and explosive material from the possession of dead criminals. During the action, police cordoned off the locality. Arrangements were being made to shift the bodies to hospital. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Rauf confirmed an encounter and added that operation was yet to be continued
