Following Balochistan chief secretary’s presentation on development projects in Quetta, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Thursday directed fast-track implementation of development projects in Balochistan and announced an immediate grant of Rs 5 billion for Quetta in the first phase.
The prime minister also approved the construction of Sibbi-Hernai railway track. He directed arranging funds for setting up Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) terminals in remaining 22 districts of Balochistan.
Moreover, the premier ordered conducting a feasibility study within 90 days for building water reservoirs and for improving canal distribution system in Balochistan. He stressed ensuring both federal contribution and donor funding in this regard. Sharif also directed releasing remaining allocation for current financial year’s federal PSDP worth Rs 62 billion.
The prime minister also announced that the government is making efforts to rehabilitate the internally displaced Bugti tribesmen in Dera Bugti.
The premier made the announcement while speaking to reporters outside Bugti House in Quetta where he went to condole the death of the wife of late Nawab Akbar Bugti.
“We have always had good relations with the Bugti family and would like to further strengthen our relationship with them” the premier said, adding that Talal Bugti has expressed confidence in the government and armed forces.
Prime Minister Sharif said the Bugti family would be consulted by the government to seek guidance in relation to the rehabilitation of Bugti tribesmen.
