Pakistan shares deep cultural, historic and brotherly relations with Turkey and these relations are evolving into useful economic ties, said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in a meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Ahmed Dawood Oglu in Islamabad on Tuesday. Matters of mutual interest and further promotion of Pak-Turk relations were discussed during the meeting.
Talking to Turkish Prime Minister, the chief minister said that Turkey is a sincere friend of Pakistan which had been standing with Pakistan in every hour of trial. He said that the Turkish government and people have always supported their Pakistani brethren during flood, earthquake and other natural calamities. He said that various Turk companies are working jointly with the Punjab government in various sectors.
The chief minister said that the splendid project of metro bus in provincial metropolis is a clear proof of Pak-Turk friendship. He said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leadership gives special importance to its relations with Turkey. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, new avenues of cooperation have opened in economic, trade and social sectors between the two countries. The chief minister said that Turkey had been put on the road to progress and prosperity during the present leadership of Turkey. He said that Turkey had become a great economic power of the world and the development of Turkey is a role model for Pakistan.
Due to the visit of Turkish prime minister, he said, the relations of both the counties will further strengthen. The chief minister said that Tayyip Erdogan Hospital equipped with modern medical facilities in district Muzaffargarh of South Punjab is an excellent gift of the brother country and its peoples.
Speaking on the occasion, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmed Dawood Oglu said that Turkey gives great importance to its relations with Pakistan. He said that the role of the chief minister in promotion of Pak-Turk friendship is commendable. He said that Turkey and Pakistan will march together in the journey of development.
HEALTH SECTOR BE IMPROVED:
Meanwhile, a high-level delegation of Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (GAVI) led by its Chief Executive Officer Dr Seth Berkley called on the chief minister on Tuesday.
The meeting decided to further promote cooperation in a coordinated manner regarding to immunisation against polio, measles and other infectious diseases.
Talking to the delegation, the chief minister said that the government is implementing a comprehensive programme for the provision of modern health facilities to the masses and reforms are being introduced in the public health sector under the Health Sector Reforms Roadmap for ensuring quality health services to the common man. He said that the government had taken solid steps for controlling polio, measles and other diseases while serious efforts are also being made with regard to routine immunisation and departments concerned are playing an active role in this regard.
