Pakistan can be turned into a developed and prosperous country by promoting modern knowledge, said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Shahbaz Saturday while addressing a ceremony held at Model Town, in which an agreement was signed between the Punjab government and a prominent international institution for preparing master plan of the Lahore Knowledge Park.
Punjab Secretary Higher Education Aslam Kamboh and Public Sector and Government Business Director Samita Khawar of renowned international institution Frost and Sullivan signed the agreement.
Under the agreement, international institution will prepare a draft of master plan of the Lahore Knowledge Park. The process of master planning and conceptual planning of the park will be completed within sixteen weeks. According to the agreement, phase-wise strategic and operation plan will also be prepared.
Speaking on the occasion, Shahbaz said that the government has evolved a concrete strategy for equipping new generation with modern knowledge. He said that huge resources are being spent on the promotion of research and education.
The chief minister said that the project of setting up of Knowledge Park in the provincial capital is of great importance and it is the first and most unique project in Pakistan. He said that the campuses of renowned universities will be set up in the park. He said that the park project will prove helpful in strengthening the process of research and education not only in the province but entire Pakistan.
He said that the park project will be implemented speedily and the agreement made with an international institution in this regard is a good omen.
Frost and Sullivan Director Public Sector and Government Business Samita Khawar said that her institution will make every effort for completing the work of master planning at the earliest.
The British Council officials said that the project of setting up of the park is an excellent step of the Punjab chief minister.
Minister for Education Mashhood Ahmed, chief secretary, secretaries concerned, Lahore Division commissioner, Lahore Knowledge Park chief executive officer, officials of British Council and international institution were present on the occasion.
EFFECTIVE MONITORING OF TRANSPORTATION PRICES:
Meanwhile, Shahbaz on Saturday ordered to enhance the quality of food items and vowed to lower the prices further.
While talking to the attendees of Price Control Committee via video-link, the CM assured that the government is continuously struggling to lower the prices of domestic consumer items and transportation fares.
He further directed the committee to monitor the transportation fares in the country to provide relief to the nation.
Moreover, he ordered to enhance the quality of food items.
