President Mamnoon Hussain on Saturday appointed Barjees Tahir as governor of Gilgit-Baltistan on ex-officio basis.
Barjees was previously serving as federal minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan.
According to a press release from the President’s House, Tahir was appointed on the advice of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
“The president has also signed the “Commission of Appointment” in Tahir’s favour,” the statement added.
