German consultants, along with a delegation from the Metallurgical Corporation of China, have been working on a mineral resource project in Chiniot-Rajwa. They called on Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif today to discuss the speedy progress on the project.
Speaking on the occasion, Shahbaz Sharif said that discovery of iron ore, copper and gold in Chiniot-Rajwa is very happy news for the 180 million people in the country. He said that the mineral reserves discovered in Chiniot-Rajwa are more precious than oil and gas and this great project will change the destiny of the country. The CM said that the mineral resources in Chiniot-Rajwa are the property of the people of Pakistan. He said that important progress has been made in a short period of nine months. He said that the interest shown by the Chinese company in setting up a steel mill in Chiniot-Rajwa is a good omen.
Shahbaz Sharif said that a steel mill that works with indigenous iron will provide jobs to local people and the economy will flourish. The project could have revolutionary importance for the economy of the country, particularly in Punjab, and the national economy will strengthen upon its completion. He expressed hope that these hidden reserves will prove a guarantee for the development of the country and the nation. The CM said that there are vast mineral reserves in Chiniot-Rajwa and the destiny of the nation and the country will be changed by utilising these reserves.
He said that international laboratories have certified the mineral reserve as being of high quality. He vowed that under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Pakistan would be made into a developed and prosperous country, by utilising these hidden reserves and will achieve a dignified status in the international community. He said that the Punjab government started this project from its own resources and the contract was awarded to the renowned Chinese company Metallurgical Corporation of China, through a tendering process, in a very transparent manner, and the hard work bore fruit within a record period.
Shahbaz Sharif said that according to experts, these mineral reserves worth billions or trillions in dollars. He said that this project would prove to be a game changer as during the exploration of iron ore, copper and gold have also been discovered from the area.
