Parliamentary Secretary for Cabinet Secretariat Raja Javed Ikhlas told the National Assembly on Wednesday that Rs. 180 million have been released for the security of educational institutions in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).
He said that CCTV cameras have been installed in schools to monitor the security situation. He said that a campaign to enrol out of schoolchildren is ongoing in the capital and so far, 15,860 children that were out of schools have been admitted to educational institutes.
He also told the House during question hour that the process of biometric verification of SIMs is in full swing across the country. He said that new SIMs would not be issued without submission of Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) and biometric verification.
He said that the government would ensure that 3G and 4G services are provided in all parts of the country. He said that cell phone operators are upgrading their infrastructure and these services will available to the people in the next few months. He said that the government auctioned the 3G and 4G services in the most transparent manner possible, and earned record Rs. 120 billion.
About the blockage of YouTube, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Shaikh Aftab Ahmad told the House that a mechanism is being created which will prevent people in the country from visiting sites that have blasphemous material.
He said YouTube was blocked on the directions of the Supreme Court. The government cannot take any decision on its own about this site without a decision from the apex court.
