Following Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s appeal, President Mamnoon Hussain Wednesday approved the enactment of Army Act 2015 in the tribal areas of the country.
The president has also given a go ahead to Amendment in the Gilgit-Baltistan Empowerment and Self Governance Order 2009. President Mamnoon also ordered appointment of Justice Maqbool Baqir as a judge of the Supreme Court.
According to the Army Act, kidnapping for ransom, to murder or to injure someone, manufacturing or possession of explosive materials will be considered punishable acts along with several others. To get foreign countries’ funding will also be considered a punishable act.
The crimes covered by the Protection of Pakistan Act will be declared punishable in accordance with the Army Act once it is enacted in the tribal areas.
