JI chief to contest Senate elections

Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq has decided to contest the upcoming Senate elections.

According to JI Deputy chief Hafiz Mohammad Idrees, Siraj will contest for a seat in the Upper House from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Further, he said that an agreement has been reached between the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and JI for supporting the other in the upcoming Senate elections.

Earlier, both the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party had announced their candidates for the Senate polls scheduled for March 3.

The PPP has also reached a seat adjustment with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) for the elections.
