Senate Standing Committee on Defence, under the chairmanship of Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, will hold the launching ceremony of the “Post-Conference Book” from the “Islamabad Trilateral Dialogue: China-Afghanistan-Pakistan,” in collaboration with the Pakistan-China Institute and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), at Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS), on Thursday, February 12, 2015.

According to a press statement issued, Deputy Secretary General and Head of European & International Cooperation of Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) Dr. Gerhard Wahlers will be the guest of honour, while Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, in his address, will also underline the need of Joint Trilateral Youth Summer Camps and Annual Trilateral Media Conference to promote people-to-people contacts between the three neighbours.

“This post conference book, which is the follow up of a two-day Trilateral Dialogue between China, Afghanistan and Pakistan, held last year in October, provides a collective approach toward countering challenges posed by security and stability in three neighbouring countries, and also suggests ways to boost mutual cooperation; enhance cultural, academic and social contacts to develop a better understanding, and improve the level of trust between the three countries; as China, Afghanistan and Pakistan share borders and can share bright futures, too,” Hussain stated.

During the panel discussion, Senator Afrasiab Khattak, who recently visited Afghanistan, will also share his views. Other panellists include former Ambassador to Afghanistan and Secretary of National Security Division Muhammad Sadiq and Ahmed Rashid, distinguished author of ‘Descent into Chaos: The US and the Disaster in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Central Asia’.

A number of diplomats, researchers, intellectuals, experts, journalists, analysts and strategists are attending the launching ceremony.
