Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain Tuesday apologised for using harsh words against the law enforcement agencies.
“I had used harsh words against some law enforcement officials during my speeches in the last few days, which might have hurt sentiments of the law enforcement authorities. I apologise for all this,” the MQM chief said in a statement issued from London.
“I have always respected the national institutions,” he said, adding that his purpose was not to hurt anyone. He said that some people were directly or indirectly backing the terror elements and strict action should be taken if anyone is found guilty.
Reacting to the killing of a party worker on January 30, the MQM chief had told a private news channel that the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) had never accepted him and accused the country’s premier intelligence agency of implicating him in cases even though no corruption was proved against him.
He also said that he had seen the ISI’s hand in supporting the lawyers’ movement against former president Pervez Musharraf.
Hussain had also held Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah responsible for the murder of 36 party activists. He further compared the Baldia Town tragedy to nothing less than a “judgment day scenario”.
