- Kidnappers’ ringleader confesses selling newborns to Gulf countries as camel jockeys
Ringleaders of an alleged kidnappers’ gang have confessed earning millions of rupees after selling the newborns to Gulf countries as camel jockeys.
Mother Welfare NGO Executive Tahira Gul and her son Shahzad Ali made the disclosure during an investigation, sources at the Ramna Police Station said.
According to the sources, the alleged kidnappers said that they have a network of members in Punjab, Islamabad and Peshawar, who kidnap newborns from different government and private hospitals before selling them to Gulf countries including Abu Dhabi and Qatar.
Gul said that the ring members abducted the newborns with the help of nurses, office boys, watchman and other staff members of hospitals. The kidnappers’ ringleader further disclosed that in Punjab and Peshawar they kidnapped the newborns with the help of doctors.
According to the sources, the kidnappers also confessed to have kidnapped several children from hospitals over the years with the help of the hospital staff and beggars.
The alleged kidnappers said that they would also sell the newborns to the childless people in the country and distribute the money earned through the “sale” among the hospital staff, the beggars and others involved in the heinous crime.
