Valuable papers lost as KMC record room catches fire

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) old record turned to ashes in KMC headquarters record room in the presence of city wardens giving loss of a lot of priceless documents to the city.

The record room contained project details, development works, orders, issues and other valuable information regarding land, infrastructure and many other important matters related to different departments of KMC.

Sources from the fire department said that the record room of KMCOldBuilding near Light House area had caught fire on Sunday, which was controlled with the help of two fire tenders. The reason of fire could not be ascertained.

Sources told that only three city wardens were on duty when the incident happened as it was holiday. They said there was little chance of short-circuit, because it usually happens when enough quantity of electricity was being used.

This scribe, when tried to gather facts about the incident after visiting the record room on Monday, he was asked by city wardens to take a hike. A city warden escorted the scribe out of the vicinity of the building, even not allowing him to meet the senior officers to get their comment.
