The Sindh High Court on Monday directed the interior secretary, home secretary, provincial police chief and Rangers director general, among other official respondents, to produce in court the missing advocate and his four relatives said to be detained by law enforcers.

A division bench, headed by Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, issued notices to the official respondents, the federal and provincial law officers, along with prosecutor general Sindh to file comments on the petition till February 13, 2015.

The petitioner, Haji Sirhinjan Khan, moved the court seeking the whereabouts of his two sons and three grandchildren.

The counsel for the petitioner submitted that personnel from law enforcement agencies raided his house in Orangi Town on February 3, 2015 and drove away with his two sons – Advocate Muhammad Usman and Muhammad Abbas, and grandchildren – Muhammad Rizwan, Muhammad Adnan and Muhammad Ehsan. They were still missing, he added.

He told the judges that he approached the higher officials from law enforcement agencies to seek information about their location but to no avail. He said he was clueless about their whereabouts as the police personnel did not disclose their whereabouts when asked, he added that they had kept them in illegal detention.

The petitioner argued that their unlawful detention was a violation of the fundamental rights guaranteed under the Constitution. He pleaded the court to order law enforcers to produce them in court.
