The Punjab government has decided to set up an e-Library Complex at head office of Punjab Sports Board (PSB) and preliminary work has been completed, said Minister for Education and Sports Mashhood Ahmed Khan while presiding over a meeting on Tuesday.
Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board New Chairman Lieutenant General (r) Muhammad Akram Khan, Punjab Secretary Archives and Libraries Orya Maqbool Jan, Director General Libraries Dr Naseer Ahmed Babar, Director General Sports Usman Anwar, senior officers of IT University, COMSATS, Punjab University, School Education Department, local government and GC University were present in the meeting.
Mashhood said that mobile e-libraries will be set up in old buses and negotiations for getting these buses from Lahore Transport Company are in final stages. PSB will give shape of mobile libraries to these buses after necessary renovation and the facility of e-library in big grounds of 13 districts will be provided from 3pm to 7pm in various areas of every city. Wi-Fi internet facility will be available round the clock to common citizens in those cities where gymnasium of PSB already exist. Similarly, IT libraries of schools and colleges and libraries of local government departments will be given status of e-library. This pilot project is being started from Daanish schools.
