ISLAMABAD.
Former Governor Punjab Chaudhary Sarwar officially announced his joining in PTI on Tuesday at a Press Conference Ceremony at the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad.
“At the time when there is a lot of corruption in the country, we are very fortunate that we have a leader like Imran Khan who talks about change,” he said.
Sarwar resigned from his post on January 29th, over statements made about Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif regarding the PM’s foreign policy. Sarwar censured the Foreign Office on the basis of President Barack Obama visiting India and not Pakistan, and deemed it as a ‘failure’ of the country’s foreign policy.
Following former PTI president Javed Hashmi’s resignation, PTI and Pakistan Peoples Party’s senior leadership offered Sarwar an invitation to join their respective parties, according to sources.
Chaudhary Sarwar has further claimed that he does not compromise on corruption, and believes that Imran Khan has the same ideals as him. “The struggle is not to gain premiership but to fight the status quo,” Sarwar concluded.
