National Assembly was informed on Monday that 27 projects worth about Rs 29 billion have been initiated to step up modernisation of industrial sector.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmad told the House during Question Hour that eight export processing zones and a number of Industrial Parks have been set up in different parts of the country to increase exports.
Minister of State for National Health Services Saira Afzal Tarar said that National Emergency Action Plan 2014 for Polio Eradication is being implemented to eradicate this disease. She said the government has taken serious steps to combat the sale and production of spurious drugs. She said the implementation is being made more effective in collaboration with the provincial governments.
To a question, Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali said the government has added 2011 MW of electricity in the system through different projects. He said unscheduled load-shedding has been eliminated, while scheduled load-shedding has been reduced in both rural, urban. He said commissioning of many ongoing projects the load-shedding will be further reduced.
Parliamentary Secretary for Housing and Works Sajid Mehdi told the House that work on ten housing projects is underway for the government employees and the general public.
