The National Bank of Pakistan, Main Branch, Rawalpindi Cantonment, has contrived an ingenious method of humiliating pensioners. They have removed counter-token-issuing machine. Now, the pensioners, mostly old men and women in frail health, have to queue up for long hours to wait for their turn. Influential pensioners having a way with the banking staff are seen handing over their pension books to dealing assistants under the table. The existing seating capacity in the NBP is too inadequate to accommodate flocks of pensioners.
The State Bank should inspect the state of affairs at the NBP and the token issuing machine should be placed back.
