Aamer Sajjad struck an unbeaten 65 and Mohammad Irfan picked up a four-wicket haul as Water and Power Development Authority crushed Hyderabad Hawks by eight wickets in the final of the President’s Silver Cup One Day trophy.
Put in to bat, Hyderabad were reduced to 31 for 5 with 17-year old debutant Irfan being the wrecker-in-chief. The slide continued and only two Hyderabad batsmen crossed 15 as they were bowled out for 117. Left-arm spinner Zulfiqar Babar, who claimed figures of 1 for 20, finished as the tournament’s top wicket-taker with 14 victims at an average of 13.78.
Mir Ali struck twice in as many overs to leave WAPDA at 23 for 2 in the chase, before Aamer Sajjad assumed charge. He raised his second successive fifty and added 65 for the third wicket to steer WAPDA to the title with 135 balls to spare.
