Local administration and police authorities have commenced the process of removing encroachments and barriers set up in the name of security in residential areas of the capital, on Saturday.
While hearing the CDA encroachment case, a two-member bench from the Supreme Court, headed by Justice Jawad S Khawaja, gave a five-day deadline for the removal of the barriers from the streets and roads. The encroachment has been erected by private offices and different embassies.
The apex court had directed Chairman CDA Maroof Afzal to remove all illegal barriers, and shift foreign embassies from residential areas to the diplomatic enclave.
