Musharraf gets one-day exemption in judges’ detention case

An anti terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad has granted exemption from attendance in the court for one day to former president Pervez Musharraf in judges detention case.

ATC Judge Sohail Ikram took up judges’ detention case for hearing Friday. Ilyas Siddiqui appeared on behalf of former president Musharraf while prosecutor Nadim Ahmad represented the government in court.

The learned judge remarked during preliminary hearing that case has just been transferred from ATC No 1 to Court No 2 due to which inspection of judges’ detention case could not be completed. The case will be heard after studying the file.

The court observed that studying the file of the case is necessary, therefore, no arguments can be given at present.

The former president Pervez Musharraf had approached the court to seek complete exemption from attendance.

The hearing of the case was adjourned till February, 20.
