Leader of the Opposition in Senate Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan strongly protested the negligence of the ministries for not responding to the questions of senators.

Speaking on a point of order in Senate, Aitzaz said the answers of 12 questions of Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) were missing in Friday’s question hour which is lamentable.

Senate Chairman Syed Nayyer Hussain Bukhari referred persistent non reply of a question regarding Islamabad Club membership to the privilege committee for further action and probe.

The Senate chairman referred two bills, to amend the Companies Ordinance 1984 (The Companies (Amendment) Bill, 2015 and another Bill seeking amendment in the Stock Exchanges (Corporatization, Demutualization and Integration) Act, 2012, (The Stock Exchanges Corporatization and Integration Amendment Bill), to relevant standing committee for further action and perusal.

Bukhari regretted that persistent non reply was unfortunate and unfair. He said it was the collective responsibility of the cabinet to answer questions of the senators.

Meanwhile, Senate unanimously amended the rules of procedure and conduct of business.

Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed moved the amendment in Rule 277.

”The members of the forum shall elect from amongst themselves a member as chairman of the forum or the occurrence of vacancy, as the case may be. The term of office of the chairman shall be one year and he shall be eligible to be reelected.”

Also, Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastigir Khan laid the report on first Biannual Monitoring on the Implementation of National Finance Commission (NFC) Award for the period July-December 2013.
