- India wants Pakistan to forget Kashmir and focus on ‘other important’ issues country is facing
India on Thursday termed the activities undertaken in Pakistan by its leaders and “unsavoury elements” as “futile quest for territorial aggrandisement” to mark “so called” Kashmir Solidarity Day.
Reacting sharply to the events that marked the day, Indian External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said that it was high time Pakistan focus on its problems.
“We are aware that there are multiplicity of activities that are being undertaken in Pakistan by their leaders and unsavoury elements who are wanted elsewhere. Pakistan’s self destructive and futile quest for territorial aggrandisement in Jammu and Kashmir is well known,” Akbaruddin said.
The Indian official was asked about his country’s position on speeches and rallies organised by various parties and groups including Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) in Pakistan on Kashmir Day.
“It is high time for Pakistan to start paying attention to all the problems that afflict them rather than focusing on Kashmir what is not theirs and never will be,” he said, asserting that Jammu and Kashmir will “remain” India’s part.
Moreover, in the context of former Pakistan national security advisor Maj Gen Mahmud Durrani’s recent visit, Akbaruddin dismissed reports of resumption of Pakistan-India dialogue anytime soon.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif described Kashmir as Pakistan’s “jugular vein” and said that he has an emotional bond with Kashmir from childhood and would continue to struggle for the right of Kashmiris.
This is indeed really rich.
If there were ever a reverse psychology being practiced, this must be it. India by pretending to be 'rankled' hopes Pakistan will double its effort on such stupid endeavors!
To paraphrase the good ol' Clint Eastwood – ' Go ahead, make India's day'!
