An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Quetta on Wednesday accepted former president Pervez Musharraf’s application seeking a day’s exemption from appearing before the court in the Nawab Mohammad Akbar Bugti murder case.

The court, presided over by Judge Aftab Ahmad Lone, resumed the hearing for the case. Former federal interior minister Aftab Ahmed Sherpao and former Balochistan home minister Shoaib Nosherwani were present in court.

The court expressed its concern over the delay in the formation of a board of medical examiners for the former military ruler, and remarked that the court had already granted six weeks time to the provincial health department, which the court deemed sufficient to perform the task.

Balochistan Health Director General Azam Baloch asked the court for another four weeks to constitute the board so that Musharraf’s medical examination could be carried out.

The court, however, rejected the request and adjourned until February 25, 2015.
