Man held for ‘burning’ Quran

A man allegedly burnt a copy of the Quran in a mosque in Hamza Kharoliyaan-Motra, a village in Daska Tehsil on Wednesday. The incident created panic and caused public anger.

Reportedly, local accused Maqsood Ahmed had allegedly earlier burnt a copy of the Quran kept in Haidari Mosque and later publically desecrated the Quran at the village chowk. He also used blasphemous language. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Daska Engineer Rana Zahid Hussain informed that the Motra Police have arrested the accused and sent him behind bars.

The DSP added that the Motra Police have registered a case lodged under Section 295-B on the report of Syed Ghazanfar Ali Shah. Further investigations are underway.
