  • PTI core committee decides to take part in Senate polls through KP Assembly, decides not to award tickets to family members of PTI leaders or ‘outsiders’

During Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) core committee’s session which took place under Imran Khan’s chair at his residence in Bani Gala on Tuesday, the party decided not to compromise over the creation of judicial commission to probe alleged rigging in 2013 General Elections and not to return to assemblies.

The committee endorsed the decision to participate in the Senate elections and also formed a parliamentary board in this regard that will handle nominations and scrutinise candidates. However, it has been decided that no family member of any PTI leader or persons not residing in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province would be given party tickets to contest the Senate election.

Addressing the meeting, PTI Chairman Khan said that the sit-in was the ‘first attack’ on the government, adding that he will continue attacking the government repeatedly like Mehmood Ghaznavi.

The core committee was told that PTI can acquire at least five seats given its strength in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. Jamaat-e-Islami can get one seat and another five seats can go to the opposition.

The PTI committee also reviewed the forensic report of the private laboratory over the alleged rigging in NA-122 constituency of Lahore. It also condemned Shikarpur tragedy.
