An anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi on Wednesday issued arrest warrants for five key witnesses in the Benazir Bhutto murder case.

Arrest warrants have been issued for SSP Loralai Ashfaq Anwar, SP Javed Khan, Assistant Director FIA Khalid Jamil, Nisar Khan and a Bilawal House employee, Mehrani.

The court has also summoned the witnesses on February 9 to record their statements.

Former prime minister Benazir Bhutto was killed in a gun and suicide bomb attack after an election rally, weeks after she returned to Pakistan in 2007 from years in self-imposed exile.

A court in Rawalpindi indicted former military dictator Pervez Musharraf on with the murder of Bhutto and the case in this regard is ongoing. The government at the time blamed Tehreek-e-Taliban militants and former president General Pervez Musharraf said he warned her of the danger she faced.

  1. Warrants are issued for witnesses in a murder case that happened 7 years ago?…what has the courts been doing for all this time?…the judicial system is broken beyond repair…lawyers demonstrating in favor of convicted, confessed killers?…what a disaster for the country along with so many other problems…
