Transport fares reduced after POL prices cut

 

The Rawalpindi Transport Authority (RTA) secretary has issued new public transport fare, fixing stop-to stop fare at Rs 11 and maximum fare at Rs 29.

New public transport fares have been announced for 40 urban and inter districts routes. New fare schedule has come into force with immediate effect.

As per new fare schedule, fare in respect of first stage of up to 4 kilometres has been reduced from Rs 12 to 11, second stage of up to 8 kilometres from Rs 14 to Rs 13, third stage up of to 14 kilometres from Rs 19 to Rs 17, fourth stage ranging between 14 kilometres and 22 kilometres from Rs 22 to Rs 20, fifth stage ranging between 22 kilometres and 30 kilometres from Rs 27 to Rs 24, sixth stage of 30 kilometres and above from Rs 32 to Rs 29.

On inter district route fare has been reduced from 84 paisas per kilometre to 79 paisas and on hilly routes from 93 paisas to 87 paisas per kilometre.

RTA Secretary Owais Manzoor Tarar said that five squads have been set up to stop overcharging of fares and monitor implementation of new fares.
