Despite the closure of CNG, residents of various sectors of the capital including posh sectors and several areas in Rawalpindi are facing extreme gas shortage multiplying their miseries.

The worst hit areas are F-7, F-8, F-10, F-11, I-10, I-9, G-9 G-11 and G-10, Chak Shahzad, Margalla Town and some areas of Bara Kahu and areas of Rawalpindi such as Khanna Pul, Shamsabad, Satellite Town, Sadiqabad, Gulzar-e-Quaid, Dhok Kala Khan, Faisal Colony and New Mahal Pur.

The residents claimed that SNGPL was meting out discriminatory treatment to them in gas supply and that they fail to understand as why they are deprived of this essential commodity despite that now the CNG is closed.

Due to low gas pressure and suspension, residents of many different localities were seen at LPG cylinder vendors buying canisters.

Several residents complained that most people have installed compressors in their homes due to which they get zero pressure.

A lady living in Islamabad’s posh sector F-7/3 complained that since past 3 years they have been facing this problem every winter. She complained that the SNGPL fails to check the use of compressors in the sectors.

A resident of in Sector G-8/2, said that their area was already facing an acute shortage of gas, but the last three to four days were awful as there was not even enough gas supply to boil water.

A working woman, a resident of Khanna Pul in Rawalpindi, said the gas issue has become so acute in their area that she struggles to prepare meals at home and must rush to restaurants to get food most of the time.

“Enough is enough. We are forced to buy eatables from markets at high prices. We get and pay gas bills regularly despite the fact we get no gas,” said another citizen living in F-11.
