Sindh High Court (SHC) came to standstill on Monday as the legal fraternity boycotted the courts while protesting against the Shikarpur Imambargah blast.

On the request of the Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA), Chief Justice Maqbool Baqar suspended judicial work in the SHC. However, some urgent matters were heard by the judges in their chambers.

Chairing a general body meeting of the association, SHCBA President Abid S Zuberi condemned the attack on the Imambargah, where over 50 peoples lost their lives and more than 100 were left injured.

The resolution, adopted by SHCBA, regretted inaction by the federal and provincial governments in controlling the law and order situation in Shikarpur, and other places, along with the infiltration of terrorists in Sindh.

The association called upon the government to pay adequate compensation to the bereaved families. The resolution also demanded that the government curb such incident, arrest the culprits behind the attack, and give them exemplary punishments.
