At least five children drowned Tuesday in an artesian well in a seminary in Peshawar on Tuesday.
According to police sources, the well was out of service for years and had turned into a cesspit. It collapsed under the weight of more than a children sitting over it in a seminary in Pushtkhawar area of Peshawar.
Initial reports put the number of the children falling into the well at 13. Eight of them were saved by rescue workers. The death toll is expected to rise as the exact number of the affectees is still unknown while a number of teachers at the seminary are also missing.
Rescue operation continued till the filing of this report.
