Opposition bent upon raising issues of petrol crisis, levying of GST on POL products, Shikarpur incident
The Senate and the National Assembly will begin their sittings at the Parliament House tomorrow afternoon which are likely to be stormy as the opposition parties have drawn up plan to raise critical issues of interest to the people.
The National Assembly session has been requisitioned by the Opposition which is likely to continue one or two days. Sources in the opposition said they have devised a strategy to give the government a tough time over levying of additional five percent GST on POL products.
The opposition members are also likely to expose the weakness and failure of the government which resulted in petrol crisis in Punjab and parts of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa. In addition, they are determined to call for a comprehensive debate on repeated power breakdowns, Karachi situation, Shikarpur incident and progress on National Action Plan.
Leader of the opposition Syed Khursheed Shah is to initiate debate on Shikarpur incident and petrol crisis while Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan would inform the House on progress over National Action Plan so far.
According to sources, there is a proposal to advance the national assembly session which was scheduled to be held on February 9 according to parliamentary calendar so that the requisitioned session is annexed with the regular session.
In Senate, opposition members would also strongly raise the issues of incidents of terrorism, petrol crisis and law and order situation.
