FIA arrests 189 corrupt officials, recovers Rs 5 billion

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested 189 government officials involved in corrupt practices and has submitted challans against 135.

In a report submitted to the interior ministry, the FIA claimed it has recovered in excess of Rs. 5 billion after interrogating the corrupt officers. The report includes details of the Hajj corruption scandal, as well as the EOBI, TDAP, PWD, NICL, NPF and CDA corruption scandals.

According to the Interior Ministry, the FIA is interrogating 54 officials involved in the mega scandals and has recovered Rs. 5.111 billion as a result of their crackdown.
