Senior police official convoy attacked near Gawadar, two cops killed

At least two cops were killed near Gawadar as a rocket attack targeted a senior police officer and his family on Sunday while a captain of Frontier Constabulary (FC) was martyred and two security personnel injured in landmine blast in Chattar.
Near Gawadar, the incident happened Saturday evening when district police chief Asghar Ali Yusufzai was travelling with his family from Khuzdar district to the town of Gwadar in Baluchistan province.
“The vehicle carrying Yusufzai and his family came under rocket attack as they passed Pasni town,” Baluchistan Home Secretary Akbar Durrani told foreign media. He said the rocket hit the vehicle escorting Yusufzai, killing two policemen and injuring another, while the senior officer and his family escaped unhurt.
A senior administration official in Gwadar, Hameed Abro, confirmed the incident and casualties.
No group yet claimed responsibility but the area is one of the most restive parts of the province. Baloch rebel groups have regularly attacked police and troops along with state infrastructure.
In the meanwhile in Chattar, the Naseerabad DIG said that a vehicle of FC struck with landmine planted by roadside by unidentified miscreants in Chattar area of the district.
The vehicle was damaged in the explosion resulting in death of an FC captain and leaving two others injured. The injured security men were shifted to hospital for treatment.
