Amir Khan is good enough to fight Mayweather and Pacquiao but that is not what we want to see

One man who will no doubt watch Floyd Mayweather’s announcement with keen interest is Amir Khan.

The Bolton man is itching for a super-fight with either Floyd Mayweatcher or Manny Pacquiao, probably more-so with the latter.

People may argue about his worthiness but Khan is most definitely worthy of a fight with either of them.

He’s a recognizable fighter who cans sell-out arenas in America and he’s an Olympic silver medalist who turned professional and has won world titles at two weights. He now wants to make that three weights in his new division of welterweight.

Khan’s last two fights at 147 pounds against Luis Callazo and then Devon Alexander proved he belongs at that level.

He’s also very charismatic, which is equally important in the business today. He’s in the mix, without a doubt.

I do believe both Khan/Mayweather or Khan/Pacquiao are both great fights if we don’t get Mayweather/Pacquiao but that fight is most definitely the fight we want and so if Khan has to wait for a fight with one of those then I don’t think that is a problem.

He’s still a young man. He’s only 28-years-old and I don’t think waiting eight months or ten months, or maybe even more, is going to harm him that much.

He can carry on and have other fights up until he gets that shot.

Personally, I’d love to see Amir go in against Kell Brook because that is a great domestic fight.

We’ve got two top welterweights in Britain and they’re both on the world stage. Kell obviously already has that world title, and Amir no doubt wants one.

Khan should one day get a shot at Floyd or Manny or even both, but for now there’s only one fight we want to see Mayweather in.

  1. I agree. Amir Khan would be, at least, fun to watch. But then again, what we all want to see is the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight. Both fighters are getting old. It's better to have the fight now than later.
