Solar energy systems to power Pindi’s rural schools

The Rawalpindi Education Department has decided to prepare lists of primary, middle, high schools and higher secondary schools in rural areas to power them with solar energy system.

The Punjab chief minister had announced to switch over the electricity system of schools located in rural areas to solar system.

A proposal has been sought from the Education Department on the number of schools operating in all the seven tehsils of district Rawalpindi.

Per the Education Department, schools located in Murree, Kotli Sattian, Gujar Khan and Kallar Syedan will be power with solar energy in the first phase. The government will be able to avert inflated electricity bills and load shedding if the schools are shifted to solar system.
